Emergency Response

History

In 1989, Jim and Dan Lorenz founded Performance Site Environmental (PSE) - originally PRO-TERRA - a family-owned company. They were motivated by a growing concern for the environment, and a desire to clean up sources of pollution. As oversight and compliance of environmental jobs became more common, Performance understood that government agencies, engineering firms, and other entities would need contractors with specialized training and experience to operate in this heavily-regulated industry.

Performance's initial focus was a 10-year federal plan to remove existing underground storage tanks that contained petroleum or hazardous materials, and replace them with tanks that met new federal regulations. The company would eventually expand into the installation/replacement of aboveground storage tanks, site remediation, industrial reconstruction, and reactive barrier walling.

In 2006, PSE took part in a strategic integration with Performance Site Company, a site management company specializing in design consulting, earthwork, soil stabilization, land development, paving, staking, dirt removal and retrieval, retaining walls, and utilities installation for commercial and residential applications. The integration created opportunities to pass along savings to clients by combining civil efficiency with environmental expertise. Performance can now offer economies of scope and scale by performing work from the environmental remediation to the preparation of the building pad.

Today, the company is a division of Performance Site Group (PSG), a full-service site construction and development organization with annual revenues of approximately $70 million. PSG is an Ohio-based corporation headquartered at 2323 Performance Parkway in Columbus, Ohio.
