Remediation

We use innovative and cost-effective technologies to clean up sites that have been contaminated with hazardous or non-hazardous wastes.

Performance Site Environmental works with consulting engineering firms to develop a risk-based assessment of a site, then develops recommendations for cleanup.

Performance Site Environmental has experience implementing a wide array of remediation technologies, including:

In-Situ Stabilization Delisting for Heavy Metals (8RCRA)
In this process, Performance Site Environmental uses chemicals that react with heavy metals, binding them and keeping them from leaching out of soil.

It is often used with Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) testing.

The process involves excavating soil, mixing the appropriate blends of chemicals with the excavated soil, and then backfilling the soil into the excavated site.

Ex-situ Excavation and Disposal
This process involves excavating contaminated soil, disposing of it at an approved landfill, and backfilling the excavation site with clean soil. Performance Site Environmental can:

  • Identify disposal sites
  • Identify backfill sources
  • Complete excavation, loading, backfill, compaction (hog and haul)

Liquid-Boot®
LIQUID-BOOT® is manufactured and licensed in Ohio to Performance Site Environmental by LBI Technologies of Santa Ana, California. The cold-spray application of LIQUID-BOOT® creates an elastomeric liquid-impermeable membrane that can be used as a liner for Brownfields sites. The LIQUID-BOOT® membrane is a NSF/ANSI 61 approved liner thus is water impermeable. A membrane formed using LIQUID-BOOT® is also gas and vapor impermeable, making it a nearly perfect gas/vapor membrane adaptable to Brownfields needs.

Engineering Controls for Pollution Containment
These remediation techniques allow the contamination to be stabilized and treated on-site.

Steel or HDPE Piling Cut-off Wall
Typically used to create an impermeable groundwater flow barrier, a steel pile cutoff wall also lends structural support to surrounding excavation activities. Performance Site Environmental will install steel or HDPE piling cut-off walls within 50 feet of the surface.

Biopolymer Slurry Wall
Performance Site Environmental excavates a narrow 2-3’ trench and adds a biopolymer solution that creates a slurry, then backfills with clean soils or engineered controlled fill. This will minimize soil disposal issues on a project and allows for installation of groundwater recovery equipment.

Bentonite/Clay Barrier Walls
At many sites, the natural clay soil found throughout Ohio can be mixed with Bentonite to create a clay barrier that keeps contaminants from migrating off-site. Performance Site Environmental specializes in clay barrier wall and cell cap construction that provide a 10-7 impervious permeability level groundwater barrier.

Geo-Composite Liner (GCL)/HDPE Liner/Cap Construction, Installation, and Landfill Cover Material
Used in capping and containing landfills, this process installs a High Density Polyethylene Liner (HDPE) to separate contaminants from surrounding soil and water.

Performance Site Environmental excavates a site and then uses certified HDPE welders on site to weld a liner of 30-60 mil plastic sheeting to fit the disturbed cap. A cap of the same material completes the process, completely sealing off the contaminants from surrounding soil and water.
